LUME UP

“Lume up” is a firefighting term used to let approaching firefighters know fire and smoke is present. When firefighters hear this, they know it’s game on – they’re gearing up for battle. The LUME UP objective is to keep every firefighter comfortable and protected while they fight for their community.

MEET THE FOUNDER

Steve Sutherland has served as a firefighter since 2007 and recognized a need for more comfortable, contemporary workwear. This led to the creation of LUME UP, where the tailored fit, practical comfort and durability of uniform staples bring a new and necessary edge to the fire service. LUME UP Stationwear is built for maximum comfort, on-the-job protection and a streamlined look – that lasts up to five years. Every LUME UP Stationwear item can be washed and worn a minimum of 125 times, making it the affordable choice.

Steve is a family man from San Clemente, California. Raised in a close-knit community with a small town feel, Steve was a natural athlete at his local high school who went on to complete a business degree. This led him to a number of pursuits outside his home town as a restauranteur and mortgage broker. In 2007, Steve returned to his home town, where a big hire in the fire service was in full swing. With many of his friends signing up to offer their service, Steve turned his efforts to something he’d never considered before: becoming a firefighter. It was a good fit, and Steve has been a proud and trusted member of the fire service ever since. Married in 2011 and now with two sons, Steve is passionate about serving his community, being a role model to his two boys and using his skills to enhance the fire service for the benefit of both civilians and his peers. This led him to the creation of LUME UP, offering high-performance stationwear for firefighters, created by firefighters.
